# About Belle Telehealth

> Belle Telehealth is an editorial site about published skin research, with a curious reader’s point of view and no medical or retail service.

Beauty is a reasonable source of curiosity. The skin underneath it is a much larger subject.

## The name

Belle Telehealth is the title of this research reading site, not a medical practice or a telehealth business. The published research on skin is what occupies me here; I do not diagnose, prescribe or arrange care. The site offers no products, deliveries or appointment service. Nothing here can stand in for medical advice about a person’s health.

“Belle” gives me the starting subject: beauty. “Telehealth” adds distance, and distance is an interesting problem when the subject is skin. I’m drawn toward a close-up that continues beyond the face, into the tissue and the experiments. The name offers a question about seeing more clearly, without giving its author a clinical title.

## Why GHK-Cu

The [cell-culture result for collagen synthesis without altered cell number](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3169264/) is satisfyingly precise. The [hair-count trial’s combination formulation and concentration results](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4969472/) give another appealing idea some useful complications.

The wish for a visible improvement deserves sympathy. Compressing a dish of cells, a piece of excised tissue and a person’s hair count into one interchangeable idea of better skin makes much less sense. Each setting has its own physical reality. The pleasure of these papers comes from allowing that reality to be awkward.

A familiar subject becoming less comfortable is exactly the pursuit I enjoy. GHK-Cu gives that curiosity plenty to work on.

## Where I stop

A paper can support an argument while leaving me unable to assess a person’s skin. This site has no way to examine symptoms, know a medical history or decide whether an intervention fits someone’s circumstances. A research result cannot do those jobs on its own.

The things actually examined, and the questions they open, draw my curiosity. More convincing visible outcomes would sharpen that interest, as would an experiment that overturns an attractive explanation. Either would be a better problem for me to think through. A result that complicates the picture can be as valuable to this project as a positive one.

Belle Telehealth houses my close-ups of published research on skin; it operates as an editorial site, with no care or retail business and no medical advice.
